Ireland’s Head Coach Ged Corcoran has named his 19-man squad that will take on Lebanon in the Wolfhounds’ second group stage game of the Rugby League World Cup 2021.
The match takes place on Sunday, 23rd October at Leigh Sports Village in Leigh, with kick-off scheduled for 2.30pm.
There is just one change to the squad that was declared for the opening match against Jamaica last Sunday, with Robbie Mulhern stepping into the team whilst James McDonnell comes out for this fixture.
In the victory over the Reggae Warriors last Sunday, nine debuts were made with Dan Norman the possible tenth, he could make his senior international debut weekend for the Wolfhounds. One of those debutants was McDonnell who shone brightly after coming off the bench, picking up a try in the process too, but unfortunately he misses out due to a minor stomach bug.
It is a big game in Group C on Sunday, with both Ireland and Lebanon vying for a spot in the quarter-finals this fixture is being viewed by both as vital to achieving that goal. A victory over the Cedars would make it back-to-back wins for Corcoran’s men ahead of facing the number one ranked side in the world, New Zealand, just five days later.
