March 11, 2019
The final u19 Open Trial of 2019 kicked off in Gormanston Park on Saturday at 9am. Again the trials saw record numbers attend with a definite increase the interest in rugby league. The interest in the u19 squad has risen since the reintroduction of a European Championships at this age group last year and also as there will be two test matches versus our Scottish counterparts next month.
On the back of a successful u19 European championships last summer the management team are again building the next generation of Rugby League talent here in Ireland ahead of an exciting year ahead and the 2020 European Championships.
Ireland u19s has produced plenty of talent in the past and most notably that of Ronan Michael who is now playing his trade in the Huddersfield Giants Academy. A pathway many of this current crop wish to follow.
Ireland u19 take on Scotland u19 in Gormanston Park on April 14th.
