Dublin Blues

About Banbridge Broncos
Founded in 1989, the Dublin Blues hold the proud and pioneering distinction of being Ireland’s first official rugby league club, predating the national governing body, Rugby League Ireland. For nearly two decades, the Blues were at the forefront of establishing the 13-a-side code in Ireland, competing with passion and paving the way for the sport's growth on the island.
After stepping away from competition in 2008, the club saw a glimmer of revival in 2020, when it was resurrected to take part in the ambitious semi-professional Euro XIII league. Though that competition unfortunately dissolved, the Blues’ spirit never faded.
Now, in 2026, the legendary club returns to where it belongs back in the Rugby League Ireland Championship, fielding both Men’s and Women’s teams ready to write the next chapter. The Dublin Blues aren't just back; they’re reclaiming their place as the founding heartbeat of Irish rugby league.
