It is with immense sadness that RLI confirms the passing of one of our sport’s true legends, Tony Dale.
Tony had suffered and fought with great bravely a long illness, a tough battle that was a testament to the man – a ‘man of action’ as he coined about himself. Sadly Tony eventually lost that battle at 9:00 yesterday morning in Beaumont Hospital.
Tony’s exploits with Rugby League in Ireland are truly legendary not only in organising our sport but also in getting his hands dirty in making games happen.
A huge loss to not only our sport but also all who knew him. We mourn with our colleagues in the two great Clubs he helped start up, The Longhorns and Athboy RLFC.
